History
Fr. Mathias Doyle, OFM, was born John Joseph Doyle in in Malone, New York on November 18, 1933. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Siena College in Loudonville, New York in 1955 before being received into the Order of Friars Minor, Holy Name Province, on July 14, 1956, in Lafayette, New Jersey. He was ordained to the priesthood on March 17, 1962. In 1975, Fr. Mathias was elected the 17th president of St. Bonaventure, where he served for 15 years. He died on June 16, 2016.
