This series contains correspondence, certificates, and related material regarding Dr. Sugunasiri’s education in Sri Lanka (then Ceylon) and subsequently in the United States and a the University of Toronto. While at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, he served as editor of the graduate newsletter, GradOISE, for one year (1974-1975). Included are drafts of his MA, M.Ed., doctoral theses, with related correspondence and background material.
Professor Sugunasiri earned five degrees: one undergraduate and four graduate ones. The titles of his graduate theses are: The Sinhalese short story: origins and development (Vidyalankara University: MA, 1962, written in Sinhala); Morphological analysis of spoken Sinhala (University of Pennsylvania: MA, 1966); and Humanistic nationalism: a language- and ideology-based model of national development, with special reference to the post-colonial nations (University of Toronto, PhD: 1978).
