Nouwen received the 1994 St. Martin de Porres Award from the Southern Dominican Province in Houston, Texas at the Wyndham Warwick Hotel. Nouwen participated in a retreat at Elderly Care Inc., in Fort Worth, Texas. Nouwen gave a talk, led a workshop and was the homilist at a service. Nouwen was accompanied by Carl MacMillan and Gordon Henry. Includes travel itinerary, plane tickets, list of expenses, and an article from the Houston Chronicle entitled "Noted author Nouwen to share award from Dominican order."
