File consists of a bound volume of typed and photocopied handouts from three courses offered by Nouwen during the fall semester of 1980 and the spring semester of 1981, namely Desert Spirituality and Contemporary Ministry, Spiritual Direction and Spiritual Life and Spiritual Direction. This bound volume includes class lists and syllabi from all three courses. The bound volume was prepared and edited by Nouwen, Joseph Nunez and Michael Zeman according to the title page.
Material relevant to the course Desert Spirituality and Contemporary Ministry includes:
- a course syllabus,
-a class list
-a list of final paper topics.
The bound volume also includes copies of bibliographies on the spiritual life, Western mysticism, hesychasm, Russian spirituality, Eastern spirituality that were bound in a separate volume. There is also the directory of local monasteries and contemplative centers supplied by Nouwen in many of his classes.
