Biographical history

Margot King earned a B.A. from the University of Saskatchewan, a M.L.S. from University of Western Ontario, an M.A. from the University of Toronto, and a Ph.D. from the University of California – Berkeley. Margot was an esteemed mediaevalist and professor of English and Comparative Literature who, as the founder of Peregrina Publishing Company, discovered, translated and popularized the lives of many previously unknown mediaeval women. Margot worked for many years as the Librarian at St. Thomas More College, University of Saskatchewan.

Scope and content

This series consists of labelled audio cassette recordings of interviews conducted by Margot King with individuals who personally knew Caryll Houselander, including her friends, family members, and acquaintances. The interviews were carried out as part of King’s research into Houselander’s life and legacy, and they offer rare, firsthand accounts of Houselander’s personality, daily life, and relationships, as well as the religious organizations she was involved with.

    Physical characteristics and technical requirements

    The sound recordings are stored on 32 analog compact audio cassette tapes. Playback requires a standard cassette tape player compatible with Type I (normal bias) tapes. Caution should be exercised during playback to avoid damage to fragile media.
    The series also includes 6 micro-cassette tapes, each requiring a micro-cassette recorder for playback. These tapes are not compatible with standard compact cassette players.
