Note
The Ministry of Vincent Van Gogh (course code REL 823a) was offered by Nouwen during the fall semester of 1977, on Mondays, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The seminar was limited to 15 students. In terms of its structure, the seminar was divided into two sections: during the first term, students focused on the chronology of van Gogh's life and watched the film "Lust for Life". The second section was thematic and centred on the individual projects of seminar participants. Students were expected to submit several personal reflections on van Gogh as well as a major paper. The second half of the seminar included the presentations of these papers. Nouwen's assistant for this course was Melanie Morrison.
