Scope and content
File consists of a bound volume of handwritten lectures (numbered III to XIII) based on William James' "Varieties of Religious Experience". The lectures are titled "The Reality of the Unseen", "The Religion of the Healthy-minded", "The Sick Soul", "The Divided Self and the Process of Unification", "Conversion", and "Saintliness". The file also contains a photocopied article by Carl W. Christenssen titled "Religious Conversion" as well as a typed summary of James' 1963 publication (by Nouwen?) and a typed document of quotations from the 1965 work by Dag Hammarskjold titled "Markings". These lecture notes and reading notes are most likely for a course taught by Nouwen on the Psychology of Religion at either the University of Notre Dame between 1966 and 1967 or in Holland between 1968 and 1970.
