Scope and content

File consists of letters from readers and supporters of the Catholic New Times addressed to the Collective as a whole or to individual members (often Sr. Mary Jo Leddy or Fr. Jack Costello, editors over this time period), offering their best wishes for the newspaper's success, requesting subscriptions, and submitting articles, reports, and reflections for publication. File also includes letters to the editor from readers expressing concern about the content of the newspaper, letters from staff at other publications (such as the Prairie Messenger Catholic Weekly and the Catholic Register) regarding the exchange of ideas and material, letters to the editor (some not intended for publication) from concerned or interested church officials, and copies of letters of response from the editor to these officials. File also includes a copy of an article from the Toronto Star by Tom Harpur called "New Catholic tabloid in Toronto gives the news others won't print" (date unknown). Some correspondence comes from Peru, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
