Lisa Martinelli is a jazz vocalist and educator in Toronto, Ontario. Born in Sault-Ste.-Marie, she moved to Toronto in 1984 to study at Humber College, graduating with an Honours Diploma in Jazz Performance. She went on to study at the University of Toronto, where she studied with Mary Morrison and Phil Nimmons, and completed a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education. She received a Masters in Music from York University in 2011.
Martinelli performs extensively and has worked with numerous other artists, including Don Thompson, Peter Appleyard, Ed Bickert, Kenny Wheeler, Norma Winstone, Guido Basso, Gene Denovi, Dave Young, and Ranee Lee.
Martinelli is currently Professor of Music and Head of the Vocal Jazz Department at Humber College. She previously taught at York University and the University of Toronto (1996-2009), where she also directed the Vocal Jazz Ensemble (2000-2009).
