The Americans have adapted Nana for the cinema, but there is very little left from the novel itself. A friend from New York sent him the script, which LeBlond is in turn sending to Deffoux. Can Deffoux write a piece on this scandalous movie? The family will protest officially and LeBlond will keep Deffoux informed.

He read part of the work and considers the research remarkable. Sends the address of the PhD candidate. The Pissarro letter he was referring to was actually written by Monet.

The passage underlined in blue could be used for L’Oeuvre. Feels very tired and overworked. Announces the engagement of his daughter Aline to a young engineer, the grand nephew of Sheurer-Kestner. In the fall, the couple will move to Montbéliard, where the young man will be working for Peugeot.

Did not know that the movie about Zola’s life was censored in Poland. It was also censored in Germany and in Italy. Has been unwell for a while, had to slow down.

LeBlond caught a bad cold during the burial ceremony of Batilliat. On 1st January, he fainted during a family reunion. He feels better now. Sends his best wishes for the new year.
  • Autograph letter from M. LeBlond to Léon Deffoux, dated «Paris, 13 avril 42», on carte-lettre stamped «Paris 15 IV 1942». Thanks Deffoux for the Cahier Huysmans. About the address 28 rue Royale in Saint-Cloud: remembers that there was a printing shop at that address. Does not go out very much but would be happy to see him.

Shares his sorrow on the occasion of the death of Emile Zavie, who was Deffoux’s old friend. LeBlond is not feeling well but will look forward to visiting Deffoux as soon as he is better.
