        History

        Fernando Moreno was born on December 2, 1949 in Placentia, California. At the age of 13, he entered Our Lady Queen of Angels seminary, and afterward attended St. John’s seminary. He chose not to enter the priesthood but became known for his work with labourers, the poor and the sick. He joined Loyola Marymount University in 1980, working in Campus Ministry. In 1991, he became the first layperson in LMU history to work as director of Campus Ministry, a position he filled until 2005, when he ended his 25 years of work at LMU. He died on December 9, 2010 in Marana, Arizona.
