File consists of two copies of the score for solo piano. The composer's note to the performer reads: "Originally composed in 1977 as Night Sounds, one of a set of early pieces for piano called Modicums, it has now been revised and given a new title, Nocturne. The performer is invited to imagine being in a quiet place, away from the noise of the city and the activities of the day, to set a quiet mood, and hear sounds invoking the atmosphere of an early evening."
