Scope and content

File consists of a bound volume of handwritten notes on abnormal psychology, as well as several handouts and a typed article by Simon Vinkenoog in Dutch, "Brief aan Hans van Zon, Mens door Simon Vinkenoog uit 'Propria Cures', 22 februari, 1969". The title page of the bound volume describes the notes as lectures, but the bulk of the content consists of clinical definitions and psychological theory, rather than fully developed presentations.
The majority of the notes are handwritten on paper containing a University of Notre Dame watermark. The material was used in a course on Abnormal Psychology (course code Psych 103) which Nouwen appears to have taught or co-lectured during his time at the University of Notre Dame (1966 - 1968) and a course he claims to have taught while in the Netherlands (1968 - 1970) at either the Joint Pastoral Institute in Amsterdam or the Catholic Theological Institute of Utrecht.
