        History

        Frederick Carson Stokes was born in 1919 in Saint John, New Brunswick. During WWII, he served with the 2nd Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. After returning to Canada, he completed his MA in Political Science at Victoria College (University of Toronto). He began working at Victoria College shortly after and held the position of Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and later was appointed Bursar at Victoria University, 1963–1985. He was married to Doris Brown and the couple had two children. Frederick Stokes died in 2008.
