File consists of the production notes, correspondence, script, promotional materials, reviews, the manuscript score for the Prologue and Epilogue (orchestrated by G. [Glen] Morley), Ben McPeek's annotated copy of the manuscript piano score, and other materials relating to The Bargain, with words and music by Ben McPeek. This comic opera was written in the early 1960s and presented on Radio-Canada's TV "Shoestring Theatre" in Montreal (1966). This file includes materials relating to the premiere stage production by COMUS music theatre of Canada as part of the Toronto Spring Festival of the Arts (April 1978). The performers were Donald Bell, John Keane, and Kathy Terrell, with Maurice Strike, designer; Tat Stanley, lighting; Stuart Hamilton, music director; and Michael Bawtree, director. The piece is for three voices, tenor, mezzo-soprano, and bass-baritone, and pre-recorded orchestra.
