Biographical history
Godfrey Ridout, composer, was born in Toronto May 7, 1918 and died November 24, 1984. He started teaching at the Toronto Conservatory of Music in 1940 and at the University of Toronto in 1948. He retired in 1982.

Victor Feldbrill conducted the premiere performance of this work with members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and vocalists Alan Crowfoot, Claudette LeBlanc, Alexander Grey, and Ewan McIlraith (CBC TV broadcast, December 22, 1976).
