Scope and content
Sub-series consists of records documenting Dr. Bolton’s role as a supervisor to graduate and doctoral students at the University of Toronto and as an external examiner for Ph.D. students outside of the University. Files are arranged by student last name and include Ph.D. examination and committee reports; correspondence with students and external appraisers; Ph.D. committee meeting minutes; research proposals, project descriptions, progress reports, and drafts of student work; student CVs; and notes containing feedback and comments from Bolton. Some materials in the Paul Hendry file also include the student’s feedback as one of the first students to take their Ph.D. general exam under the new General Examination format that was implemented in 1991.
