History
In 1928, the Council of Victoria College obtained a legal status and began to hold monthly meetings. The Council is governing body of the University and exercises its powers and duties under the provisions of the Victoria University Act. It possesses powers relating to admissions, examinations, courses of study, and other related areas. Some of these powers are subject to approval by the Board of Regents and are exercised within the framework of the Faculty of Arts and Science at The University of Toronto. The Council has several standing committees, including: the Academic Advisory Committee, Priorities Committee, College Life Committee, etc. Committee names have changed over the years.
