First House is one of the Lower Houses in Burwash Hall along with Bowles-Gandier, Caven, and Nelles Houses, which were constructed in 1931, named in 1936, and renovated in 1995.
Known as First House when it was built, the name was changed to Ryerson House in 1936. In 2021, the name was changed back to First House.
