        The Studio für Elektronische Musik des Westdeutscher Rundfunk (Studio for Electronic Music of the West German Radio) was founded in 1951 by the composers Werner Meyer-Eppler, Robert Beyer, and Herbert Eimert. Karlheinz Stockhausen updated much of the equipment in the early 1970s.
