Scope and content
Sous-fonds includes personal and professional correspondence, records of professional associations, consultative work, teaching material and lectures. His expertise in music education, particularly orchestral studies, led to commissions from both private and public organizations to conduct research and prepare reports. Many of these reports were published and contributed to significant developments in the field. The accession also contains manuscripts of addresses, articles, and a book titled Theodore Thomas: America’s Conductor and Builder of Orchestras, 1835–1905 (University of Illinois Press, 1989).
