Subseries 4.2 - Financial and Grants

Sub-series consists of financial records and grant applications related to the operation of the David Dunlap Observatory between 1975 and 2008. Records document the costs associated with research and maintaining equipment. Files pertaining to the NSERC grant applications primarily relate to the acquisition and maintenance of an image processing facility and PDS Microdensitometer to digitize photographic plates. This facility was used not only by the DDO and the University of Toronto’s Department of Astronomy, but also by astronomers and other scientists from around the world. Records include services and purchase orders, invoices, statements of accounts, grant applications and supporting materials, and correspondence.

To conserve original order of the records, this sub-series has been organized into two sections based on contents: financial records and grant-related records. The first section has been arranged chronologically by the archivist, while the second section has been kept in its original order.

Staff appointment forms have been removed from the financial records files and placed into their own file.
