Wood, a pastor in Tacoma, WA, from February 26, 1996, expressing appreciation for Nouwen's writing, especially "In the Name of Jesus," "Out of Solitude," "The Wounded Healer," "Life of the Beloved," and "Creative Ministry." Wood says he wrote a song called "With Open Hands" and sent Nouwen a videocassette with a recording of the song.
