File consists of approximately 38 letters, as well as, typescripts and blank postcards. This correspondence occurred between July 15, 1972 and June 30, 2006. A chronological list and description follows:

  • a 9-page hand-written letter from Nouwen, undated but mentions that Nouwen is flying to San Francisco. Letter is written on 19.7 (7 3/4 ") x 14.8 cm (5 13/16") creamy beige paper.
  • 1 page (both sides) typed letter dated July 15, 1972 on Instituto de Idiomas | Padres de Maryknoll letterhead.
  • 1 page (both sides) typed letter dated July 22, 1972 on Instituto de Idiomas letterhead.
  • 1 page typed letter dated July 24, 1972 on Instituto de Idiomas letterhead.
  • 1 page (both sides) typed letter dated July 29, 1972 on Instituto de Idiomas letterhead.
  • 1 page typed letter dated August 12 (presumably 1972) on Insinuator de Idiomas letterhead.
  • 1 page hand-written letter (undated) addressed by Nouwen as "For Richard, Nanci, Lou Suzanne".
  • 1 page (both sides) typed letter dated [May? "mei"] 20, 1973. Nouwen says he is writing from Holland.
  • 1 page (both sides) hand-written letter dated July 19, 1974. Letter written on Abbey of the Genesee letter head and is 21.6 cm (8 1/2") x 14 cm (5 1/2 ").

  • Copy of newspaper articles on the death of Elizabeth Anne Canning [Elizabeth Canning Healy], a professional jockey. Page leaf measures 21.5 cm (8 1/5 ") x 14.9 cm (5 7/8").

  • 1 empty air mail envelope addressed to RAW, postmarked December 31,1973. Nouwen's return address is a Dutch address.
