Wayne Muller was a close friend of Henri Nouwen, who preached at Muller’s ordination.
File consists of letters, articles, and draft manuscripts sent by Nouwen to Wayne Muller, unless otherwise indicated. Includes:

  1. 1984 June 27: Copy of a letter of reference written by Nouwen for Wayne Muller, addressed to the Metropolitan Boston Association of the United Church of Christ. Harvard Divinity School letterhead.
  2. [1985]: Draft typescript of an article titled “The Icon of the Virgin of Vladimir: An Invitation to Belong to God.” This article was later published in Nouwen’s book Behold the Beauty of the Lord: Praying with Icons (1987). Includes handwritten inscription: “For Wayne with love Henri come soon!”
  3. 1986: Article about Daybreak, with a handwritten letter by Nouwen to Muller.
  4. 1987 November 5: Original typed letter from Nouwen to Muller.
  5. 1992 February 24: Original typed letter from Nouwen to Muller.
  6. 1993 March 8: Original typed letter from Nouwen to Muller.
  7. 1996 March 8–May 23: Partial journal entries made by Nouwen during his sabbatical, referring to his time spent with Wayne Muller. This journal later became "Sabbatical Journey."
