Biographical history
F. W. (Frederick William, or Fred) Timms was an organist, conductor, and choir director in Niagara Falls, Ontario and the surrounding area. During his career, he was the director of various choirs and orchestras including the Vinemount Choral Society, F. W. Timms Concert Orchestra, Beamsville Philharmonic Choir (1932 - ca. 1941), [Beamsville] centennial choir (1966), and Lundy's Lane United Church in Niagara Falls. He was also one of the founders of the Lincoln County Music Festival and the first chairman of the Niagara Falls chapter of the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO) (inaugurated in 1945).

Archival history
Transferred to the University of Toronto Music Library with other silent film music from the Film Reference Library of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). This series was separated in a plastic bag labelled "Silent Film Music - Mr. F.W. Timms Collection - March 1981" and consisted of two sections of material, (1) thematic cue sheets and (2) piano parts for silent film accompaniments, both of which were alphabetized by title.

Series consists of thematic cue sheets for various films, released between 1925 and 1930 and photoplay music for solo piano or organ. Most of the cue sheets are annotated for performance.
