From Fr. Ahern: "A word on their background: I invited Henri to MAYNNOTH COLLEGE - the national seminary in IRELAND - in 1980 to speak at the annual Trocaire Lecture - to which world spiritual leaders had each year been invited. He gave an excellent talk on Commuinion and Community. I was the Director of Formation for the seminarians and wished to expose these young men to Henri's spirituality.

We became firm friends afterwards and he visited me in a personal capacity in Ireland and I also went to Daybreak where these photographs were taken. We had set up a summer placement programme for the Irish seminarians and for years they came as volunteer assistants for summers or year long stay at Daybreak. There we engaged with Elizabeth, Sue, Joe and all the wonderful group.

I have since returned to pray at his place of rest. I ahve read most of his works and have remained involved with L'ARCHE. As one of the speakers at the upcoming International Eucharistic Congress I will be quoting Henri as he had an outstanding influence on me and my subject is Communion and Disability. I have now become a founding member of a L'ARCHE community in our local city her in Ireland.

We spoke frequently on the telephone and he had also offered to write the foreword to a book of mone THE WAY OF GENTLENESS just before he died."
