Scope and content

File consists of correspondences between William B. Dunphy and O'Neill-Karch. Specifically, items in file include:

  • Postcard (May 30, 1980) from the Perche region of France where he and Kathleen had rented a house.
  • Form letter from WBD thanking MOK for attending Orientation.
  • Undated manuscript letter thanking MOK for the mass offered on the occasion of the death of WBD's mother.
  • Programme for the funeral mass of WBD, August 17, 1998.
  • Draft of letter from MOK to Kathleen, August 17, 1998. "It is with great sorrow that I write to you, Kathleen, for Bill was a very special person in my life. Early in my career, I learned from him how much good humour, tact, and careful preparation made meetings productive, and even fun. Bill was a wonderful mentor. I am so glad that I was able to move a vote of confidence in his principalship during what was certainly a dark period of his life. What was truly admirable is that though he was deeply hurt, he did not bear a grudge against his opponents and, in fact, did his utmost to treat them as fairly as he did everyone. The sign of a truly great man. His passing is not only a loss for his family, but for all the university community he served so well. Pierre joins with me in offering you and your family our deepest sympathy. We will be making a memorial donation to Casey House."
  • Manuscript note from Kathleen & family, thanking MOK for contribution to Casey House.
