File consists of sketches, the manuscript score, the percussion part, and an annotated copy of the score for an opera by John Beckwith with libretto by James Reaney, based on the mystery novel Crazy to Kill by Ann Cardwell (New York, 1941). The opera was commissioned by the Guelph Spring Festival. File also includes a setting of "Old Meg Merillies," a ballad by John Keats, set to music for voice and piano by John Beckwith, and dedicated to James Reaney.
