File consists of George Brough's five-year diary, spanning the years 1956 to 1960. During this time, Brough was based in Toronto with regular tours within Canada and to Britain as a collaborative pianist. He started working at the Vancouver International Festival in 1958 as an accompanist and was assistant conductor for the Canadian Opera Company (1958-1966). He also continued to work with the CBC Opera Company and worked on various opera productions for stage, radio, and television productions, including the premiere performance of John Beckwith's Night Blooming Cereus. Brough also played for various services at Toronto churches, including St. Simon's, Timothy Eaton Memorial Church, Grace Church, and Bloor United. On February 25, 1958, he performed with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Heitor Villa-Lobos, playing pieces by Paul Le Flem and Villa-Lobos.
