File consists of correspondence between Laurent Nouwen and various individuals, though predominantly Sue Mosteller and Kathy Christie, regarding Henri Nouwen’s estate and legacy; Nouwen related events and projects; and the publication and translation of Nouwen’s work. Included in the file is a contact list of Nouwen’s friends in the Netherlands; correspondence regarding the Memorial Service for Henri J.M. Nouwen held in New York on February 20, 1997; updates to Nouwen regarding the establishment and activities of the eventual Henri Nouwen Society and Henri Nouwen Literary Centre; personal correspondence from Laurent Nouwen regarding his wife and children; a photocopy of Nouwen’s “De mars van Selma naar Montgomery” that appeared in the October 1965 edition of Sjaloom; a list of Nouwen’s book translated into Dutch; a copy of a letter from Laurent Nouwen to Nathan Ball regarding an epilogue Ball wrote for an unnamed Nouwen journal; the transcript of a talk about Nouwen given by Bill Cramsie on April 26, 2000; and a document titled “Henri J.M. Nouwen: An overview of his works”. Folder also contains two handwritten letters to Laurent from Jutta Ayer in Dutch from November 22, 1996 and July 1997. The 1996 letter includes a colour photograph.
Second file folder consists of correspondence between Laurent Nouwen and staff at the Henri Nouwen Literary Centre, and various other individuals, regarding Henri Nouwen related events and projects, the publication and translation of his books and the work of the Henri Nouwen Stichting. Included is correspondence regarding the opening of the new Dayspring; mailing lists for the European recipients of the newsletter Sprouting Seeds; drafts of letters and general correspondence regarding the translation, and associated rights, of Nouwen’s books into Polish, Dutch and German; correspondence regarding the handling of Nouwen Society newsletters; an agenda for a November 3, 1999 Board Meeting of the Henri Nouwen Stichting; updates about Laurent Nouwen’s visit to the Ukraine; an overview of the costs associated with an international newsletter; and a record of payments to the Henri Nouwen Stichting based on royalties received from Lannoo and Herder.
Third file folder consists of correspondence between Laurent Nouwen, Kathy Christie and Sue Mosteller, and various financial institutions, regarding Henri Nouwen’s international accounts following his death. Included are letters from Laurent, acting as Nouwen’s attorney, to various financial institutions informing them of Nouwen’s death, of his beneficiaries, executors, trustees, and secretary of estates; a list of Nouwen’s assets upon his death; and correspondence between Kathy Christie and Roly Browning Watt regarding Nouwen’s assets.
