File consists of personal correspondence from Fred Rogers to Henri Nouwen regarding the impact of Nouwen’s writing, their friendship and his work on the television show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. Also in the file is correspondence from Rogers to Sue Mosteller regarding Nouwen and the opening of the new Dayspring Chapel, the dedication of which was attended by Rogers and his wife Joanne. Included in the file is a letter from Joanne Rogers to Nouwen; an invitation from the University of Pittsburgh Press asking Nouwen to contribute an essay for a book marking the 25th anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood accompanied by a copy of Nouwen’s response declining; seasonal greeting and birthday cards; photographs taken by the Rogers during a 1998 visit to L’Arche Daybreak; a photocopy of a response letter written to Mary Carney by Rogers; copies of letters sent to Rogers by various people about Nouwen’s writing; and an order form for Living Hope: A Study of the New Testament Theme of Birth from Above by William Orr and William Guy.
