File consists of correspondence between Nouwen and Claire Stober and Christopher Zimmerman at The Plough Publishing House regarding an introduction written by Nouwen for Arnold Heinrich’s Discipleship and a request for an endorsement of Eberhard Arnold’s Why We Live in Community which is included in the file along with his pamphlet “The Challenge of True Community: Thomas Merton”. Also in the file are biographical sketches of Heinrich Arnold and extracts of his material; a letter from Steve [Mercer?] regarding political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal, accompanied by an E.L. Doctorow opinion piece titled “From Here to Death Row” and the July/August 1995 edition of The Plough featuring writing by Abu-Jamal; a confidential request from Stober regarding Abu-Jamal publishing advice; and a copy of a foreword written by Mother Teresa for J. Christoph Arnold’s book A Plea for Purity.
