Note
The Observatory, established in 1840, was equipped "with a mercurial barometer, two thermometers (a maximum and a minimum thermometer), an anemometer to measure the velocity of the wind, a wind vane and a rain gauge." The screen was made by workmen at the Observatory. These images were taken before 1878 and appear in George Templeman Kingston’s Instructions to observers connected with the Meteorological Service of the Dominion of Canada, 1878
