Series 5 - Society Departments

This series consists of records created by or pertaining to the operation of the individual Departments of the Society.

The series is divided into the following subseries:

1. Office on the Laity - Department of Lay Association - Lay Mission Office
2. Department of Communication and Education
3. Mission Information Department
4. Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation Office
5. Interfaith Department

No future accruals expected.

Series created by archivist upon processing at USMC, consolidating several previously discrete series as subseries. Where one office had multiple names throughout its existence, these files were combined into a single series, with office name changes indicated in the title and description of the subseries. Arrangement at file level not altered from received arrangement except where indicated at file level or where unprocessed materials were integrated into the existing arrangement.

Access is open, except for personnel files contained in Subseries 1: Office on the Laity - Department of Lay Association - Lay Mission Office. These are indicated at file level.

Materials related to other elements of Society operation can be found in the General Council files (Series 2) and Governance and Administration (Series 3).
