File consists of George Brough's five-year diary, spanning the years 1951 to 1955. During this time, Brough lived in Toronto and continued his work as an examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music and as a rehearsal pianist for the CBC Opera Company. He also regularly played at services for St. Simon’s church and continued his work as a collaborative pianist with musicians including Elizabeth Benson-Guy, Murray Adaskin, Frances James, Doreen Hall, Mary Morrison, and Leslie Holmes.

As a soloist, Brough performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto no. 1 with the CBC Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Paul Scherman on January 31, 1955.
